Most professional lens manufacturers follow a standardized classification system across the line of lenses they carry. The intended imager size; UHD, HD or SD resolution, the widest focal length, the telephoto focal length (expressed as a multiplier of the widest), if the lens offers an extender, the type of lens controllers supported, whether or not iris, zoom or focus are driven by motors, and if the lens features stabilization, etc., can all be determined by understanding the manufacturer’s coding system.
