Building Arks

Building Arks

“Predicting rain doesn’t count. Building arks does.”

Warren Buffett

When stormy seasons come I am reminded of Warren Buffett’s statement, “Predicting rain doesn’t count. Building arks does.”

I wonder, if God through Noah had only warned of the coming flood, what good would that have been? Love is shown only through the fabrication, provision and the opportunity to be rescued by the Ark.

As a technical artist (in church or elsewhere) I am called to be a problem solver, not just a problem warner. My job is to build Arks, not just predict rain.

The problem is building an Ark often takes a great deal of time and trust. According to the Bible it took Noah well over fifty years. I am not sure I could press on that long without discernible benefit.

Charles Spurgeon said, “By perseverance the snail reached the ark.” But what if when the snail arrived there was no Ark completed to be rescued in? What an awesome responsibility Noah had.

Are you an Ark builder, or just a rain forecaster?
